The Africa Food Systems Forum (AFS) 2024 Annual Summit is scheduled to take place from September 2 to 6, 2024, at the Kigali Convention Center in Rwanda.
Organized under the leadership of President Paul Kagame, this year’s summit will focus on the theme “Innovate, Accelerate and Scale: Delivering food systems transformation in a digital and climate era.”
As Africa faces the urgent need to transform its food systems, the 2024 AFS Forum comes at a crucial time. With only six years left to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and just one year remaining before the deadline for the Malabo Declaration, the summit aims to drive significant progress in food security and economic development across the continent.
The event will explore strategies to catalyze the transformation of African food systems through innovative science, digital technologies, policy reforms, and scaled investments.
It will highlight the importance of these elements in creating resilient, sustainable, and equitable food systems, especially in the face of climate change. The summit will also emphasize the need for solutions that create job opportunities, particularly for Africa’s youth and women, who are central to the continent’s economic future.
The 2024 summit is expected to attract over 5,000 delegates, including policymakers, experts, and stakeholders from across Africa and beyond. The program includes a Pre-Summit on September 2, followed by the main event from September 3 to 6.
During this time, participants will engage in high-level discussions, share knowledge, and collaborate on actionable solutions to address the continent’s food security challenges.
The Africa Food Systems Forum 2024 is poised to be a landmark event in the ongoing efforts to transform Africa’s food systems. By bringing together leaders from across the continent and the globe, the summit aims to foster meaningful change that will ensure food security and promote sustainable development for all Africans.
